The Wilmington College baseball team opens three games this weekend in Carbondale, Illinois, with a three-game series against the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIC) and Illinois State (SIU) teams. Bill Kincaid is in his second year on the UW coaching staff, where he is the second head coach. Ed Mathey, a 1986 NCC graduate, is one of the most successful head coaches in college baseball history, and Mike Neal is a two-time national coach of the American Collegiate Athletics Association All-America. The 2020 season continues under head coach Tony Vittorio, but he is heading up a second season with the program.

Barry Hinson has been the MVC's head coach for 15 seasons and ranks fourth in school history in wins (1,832), wins in M VCU and wins against Southern Illinois and Illinois State. Southern ranks eighth nationally in total offense, second in batting average and third in home runs. SIU had a 22-10 record last season, the second-best record in program history, while Hinson was named MVC Coach of the Year. The 22 wins were the most by a SIU team since the team won 29 games in 2007, according to the NCAA.

UNI dropped 25 points in the Panthers' loss to Valparaiso, but made at least one 3-point play in each of his last two games against Southern Illinois and Illinois State. UNI has not scored in its last three games, including a 3-1 victory over SIU and a 2-4 home loss.

Just take the advice of LL Cool J and call it a comeback: Illinois State rallied from a 15-point first-half deficit to secure a 76-70 victory over UNI on Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd of 7,921 at the Alumni Center. Illinois trailed by as many as 15 points in the first half, which was the 10th-largest halftime deficit to be made up by halftime.

Illinois State had two freshmen in Antonio Reeves this season, and both have climbed into the top 10. Reeves' 15 points against TCU earned head coach Dan Muller the most points by a freshman in a game in his coaching career. Horne's 14 points against Morehead State were the most points the freshmen scored in that game under Muller.

Marcus Domask is one of only two players with 40 assists to have started all 14 games with the Salukis. He is the only player in Illinois State history to have scored at least 20 assists in each of his first two seasons. Benson is averaging 14.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, making 58 percent of her shots from the field and leading the teams with 11 blocked shots. Green went 7-for-15 from the field against the Crusaders and 4-of-5 from free throws against Morehead State.

Dr. Perry conducted several marketing studies to determine the impact of Brewer's on residents of Mt. Vernon and the community of Carbondale. The studies included a questionnaire distributed at two locations in CarbonDale and a survey of vehicles parked on the grounds of the Mt Vernon restaurant. Brewer promoted the restaurant by running ads in Vernon's media, with WSIL-TV reaching out to Carbondingale, as well as newspapers appearing throughout the city. As a result of these efforts, Perry determined the number of customers in Mt. Vernon and their relationship with Brewer's, as well as the location of his restaurant and its location.
